Dublin, Ireland May 2013 – FleetConnect, Irelands leading provider of Passenger Wi-Fi, has announced that Dual Way/Citysightseeing Coaches has selected FleetConnect to provide the award-winning Moovbox Solution Mobile Broadband Gateway to provide Wi-Fi connectivity for their passengers so they can connect to the internet whilst touring on – board their buses.
Launching the new service, David Mc Conn CEO, Dualway/CitySightseeing said “It’s an exciting time for the company. Providing internet connectivity gives our customers who are mainly tourists a chance to connect their Smartphones and Ipads to the internet during their tour. They now have the ability to post their status and photos whilst onboard without encuring expensive roaming charges.
The Moovbox Mobile Broadband Gateway acts as a bridge between a vehicle and high-speed cellular data networks including 3G/HSPA, EV-DO and WiMAX, providing Wi-Fi access and an Ethernet-based local area network (LAN) for connecting on-board systems such as CCTV and passenger information systems.
The Moovbox also has integrated GPS receiver for real-time automatic vehicle location (AVL) via the web-based MoovManage service.
“We’re delighted that Dualway has selected FleetConnect to provide the on-board Internet technology for their full fleet of Coaches,” said Patrick Cotter, Managing Director at FleetConnect.” With the proliferation of Wi-Fi enabled portable devices such as the iPhone, IPAD, Blackberry and netbooks, free on-board Wi-Fi is rapidly becoming expected by rail, bus and coach passengers, especially for Tourism Vehicles and inter-city transport services says Cotter.”Also the high numbers of people logging on to Social Network sites requires 24/7 Internet Access these days”
“So Dualway customers will soon be able to tweet, Poke and update their status whilst they commute”, added Cotter.
